6th June 14:00 - 19:00 ~something for the body something for the soul~
The trio works with emotional drive of collective singing and its capacity to jointly create a shared space. During the artists’ residency they will this way remake their interviews recorded with invited guests into an imaginary narrative. The opening evening will be devoted to listening, thus reminding the audiences of some previous projects and presenting some starting points for a future work based on the current work in progress. A live performance by Ruta Putramentaite - Earth/ Water/ Air/ Fire is leaving your body variation #1 & #2 will also take place.
Denisa Langrová (*1996), currently a student of the third year of the UMPRUM (Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design), Edith Jeřábková and Dominik Lang Studio. Her artwork explores both inner and external spaces, reflecting upon both personal and political agendas. Despite her works being often quite understandable and ironic, at the same time she leaves room for the viewers’ imagination, freely combining both realistic and fictitious elements. Denisa seeks inspiration in fairy-tales and myths, songs and ditties, history and Internet articles. Main topics of her art are ecofeminism, interspecies relationships, utopia and love.
Ruta Putramentaite (*1989) comes from Lithuania. She studied photography at the Middlesex University London. At present she is a student of the Prague UMPRUM (Edith Jeřábková and Dominik Lang’s Studio of Sculpture). In her current practice she devotes herself to sculptural, sonic or video installations, often with performative overlap. Ruta often uses herself as the main actor of her audiovisual numbers where she combines replay of appropriated statements with her own agenda, thus moving on the edge between personal and collective statements related to the topics of environmental crisis and ecology of mind.
Jonáš Richter (*1983) is the graduate of Sculpture Studio at the Prague UMPRUM. His artworks deal with language and limitations of communication in connection with technologies. He creates sonic installations, often employing also the medium of photography and moving images. Lately he devotes himself to human voice investigation in the whole scope of its formation – from text, physical performance, sonic processing, to presenting voice in different contexts. Jonáš also pursues writing his own music, in the last 15 years prevailingly with his father in the Richter & Son project.
The event takes place thanks to the financial support of the Czech Ministry of Culture, grant of the City of Prague, and the State Cultural Fund.
25th June 5 pm Workshop of Radical Breathing and Collective Singing
You are cordially invited to a course of collective singing with a revolutionary touch. Come and try along with us to look for ways how to use our voice and breath as an instrument to make a better world. First we will observe both physiological and political aspects of our own breathing with the help of rhythmical exercises. Afterwards, through collective singing, we’ll let our bodies resonate at the frequencies of emancipation theory and poetry. Previous singing experience is not necessary.
The event can happen thanks to the financial support of the Czech Ministry of Culture, State Cultural Fund and a grant from the City of Prague.
