11. 2. THE DRAFT III

26. 2. THE DRAFT IV / TYPOS AND BLUNDERS

THE DRAFT is an umbrella term for a series of working sessions initiated by Markéta and Václav Magid, taking the form of a discussion and correcting ideas (Magid) and in the mode of interconnecting meanings of a dance-blunder and a word-typo (Magidová).

THE DRAFT I / CO-MODIFICATION OF ART AND THE AUTHENTICITY JARGON

VÁCLAV MAGID: "I’ll make an attempt to analyze the relationship between notions such as artwork, commodity and fetish. I’ll critically examine different models of artmaking (the art of performance, art on social media), which strive to break free from these connections."

THE DRAFT II / THE POINT OF A REPEATED JOKE

VÁCLAV MAGID: "I’ll focus on reiterating similar strategies or almost identical projects that happened in the last two decades (Rafani and Prague Service; the Moscow actionism of the 1990s and current Russian art activism) and I am going to follow the changes in their aesthetic and political meaning in the wake of changing social conditions. That will serve me as a starting point for speculating on the possibilities of critical art after postmodernism."

THE DRAFT III

MARKÉTA MAGIDOVÁ together with dancer Tereza Indráková will process their experience from moving through the premises of the functionalist building where INI Gallery resides – a former Electric Companies seat. Markéta pursues the duality of sense and nonsense, blunder-typo and productivity of mistakes in general.

THE DRAFT IV / TYPOS AND BLUNDERS

Human Resources Department. Job application. Hurry. Sloppy emails. Stress. Attempting dignity.
In the last part of the Typos and Blunders Project, the sound recording of text, role rendition through dance, and visual examination of the former Electric Companies building merge to form a moving image. Live music will accompany the film screening rehearsal.

Live music: Michal Cáb, Matouš Hejl
Dancer: Tereza Indráková
Voice over: Hynek Chmelař
Camera, editing, direction: Markéta Magidová
